On September 29th WM planned and hosted Joanna’s 84th surprise birthday party!
And boy was she SURPRISED. There were * tears of joy! *
The birthday party took place inside WM event center – Rustic / Farm & Garden Themed!
Joanna thoroughly enjoyed her surprise birthday party.
With the help of the Old Oak Frame House (La Grange, Ky) – we were able to reconstruct old pictures that were thought to have been gone and ruined forever. The Framehouse brought these photos back to life and gave them a breath of fresh air by reconstructing, matting, and framing. One was a special photograph of Joanna’s two sons on a tractor. It was the first one they learned to drive. The family actually didn’t know the photo existed and the finished product was a truly touching gift.
The photographs were the spark of lots of conversations.
A photo wall was constructed and photos were displayed that went back several years, there were also collages of pictures and pictures of her ancestors.
Needless to say… the decor and the event was a great success!
When it comes to celebrating birthdays it is easy to go out and purchase a lot of one time decorations, instead of doing this, we recommend fresh flowers that can be replanted and ….. PICTURES. Everyone loves pictures, and today in the era of social media a lot of people forget to print them off and hang them up. The gift of a hard copy framed picture is the best gift of all.
Pictures helped Joanna bring back very special memories, nostalgia was a huge piece of our decor success.
Another very special thing that occurred during the birthday party was the United States Marines came from sub station Frankfort to wheel in the cake and cut it with the Marine Sword. This was a very special moment for Joanna because her first love in life was a US Marine Core Officer. For 23 years she traveled and visited her daughter Melissa at all the bases throughout the US during her time as a Marine Core officer as well and for her 84th birthday…. the Marines came to her.
They even stopped to meet Dr. B
Desserts included homemade German strudel from the German restaurant in Louisville.
Cakes from MyCakery (Louisville)
Sweets & Treats from Q&A (La Grange, Ky)
Soups from The Red Pepper Deli (La Grange, Ky)
Catered Buffet from Big R & Shannon’s
On the invitations gift givers were asked to bring anything garden themed! This was a big hit and very exciting for Joanna. She absolutely loves gardening, nature, and flowers.
In honor of Joanna, guests could select from a large variety of garden seeds, flowers, and bulbs to take home with them, to plant in their flower beds or gardens to always remember this special day! (This picture was taken before the seeds were displayed)
Another highlight of the party were those that attended. Family from all over drove to Kentucky to celebrate Joanna. Seeing family from near and far warmed her heart and made for new amazing memories.
A fun accessory the comes along with WM’s venue are the horses.
In the background of the party, through the large windows were horses in the metal turn out pen. The sliding doors were open so guests could go pet and take pictures. There was even a basket stocked full of fresh apples and carrots.
We want to thank everyone for coming and celebrating Joanna.
oh yes… and there’s always some silliness @ WM.
